Yosemiteにインストールしているrvm で Ruby-1.8.7 を
インストールしようとしたところ下記のエラーが発生して、インストール失敗しました。
$ rvm install ruby-1.8.7

結論から言うと apple-gcc42 をインストールした後、
rvm install を行うと無事インストール出来ました。
せっかくなので、rvmのインストール手順も乗っけておきますね。
Xcodeのインストール
AppStore から Xcode のインストールを行いましょう。
インストールが終わったら、一旦 Xcode を立ち上げて、利用規約の同意とかを済ませます。
Xcode Command Line Tool のインストール
ターミナルから Xcode Command Line Tool をインストールします。
$ xcode-select --install
homebrew のインストール
いろんなパッケージを入れていくのに便利な homebrew をインストールします。
$ ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
readline のインストール
readline をインストールします。
$ brew install readline
X11(XQuartz) のインストール
X11 のインストールを行います。
コマンドラインでインストール出来ないので、
XQuartz の公式からXQuartzのパッケージをダウンロードしてインストールします。
ここまできたら、一旦ターミナルを再起動します。
apple-gcc42 のインストール
現在サポートされていないgcc をインストールせねばなりません。
brew tap homebrew/dupes
brew install apple-gcc42
入れっぱだとあまりよろしくないので、Ruby-1.8.7を入れたらアンインストールするのが吉。
rvm のインストール
rvm(Ruby Version Manager)をインストールします。
$ curl -L get.rvm.io | bash -s stable
## .rvm を読み込む設定を行う
$ vim ~/.bashrc

# RVM
[ -s ${HOME}/.rvm/scripts/rvm ] &&&& source ${HOME}/.rvm/scripts/rvm
## .bashrc の再読み込みを行う
$ source ~/.bashrc
## rvm を最新版に更新する
$ rvm get head
$ rvm get latest
Ruby-1.8.7 のインストール
rvm を使って、Ruby-1.8.7をインストールしましょう。
$ rvm install ruby-1.8.7
## インストールできたか確認
## ruby-1.8.7 があればOK
$ rvm list
rvm rubies
ruby-1.8.7-head [ i686 ]
=* ruby-2.2.0 [ x86_64 ]
# => - current
# =* - current &&&& default
# * - default
## Ruby-1.8.7 を使用する
$ rvm use ruby-1.8.7
Using /Users/bacchi/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.8.7-head
$ ruby -v
ruby 1.8.7 (2014-01-28 patchlevel 376) [i686-darwin14.0.0]
インストールが出来ました。
忘れずに、apple-gcc42のアンインストールをやっておきましょう。
brew uninstall apple-gcc42
以上でYosemiteへのRuby-1.8.7インストール作業は完了です。
